Pipe Major Jake Watson

Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Jake was immersed in the pipe band world at an early age. His natural talent was soon evident. He was invited to play in his first grade one band at 11 years of age. By the age of 15, he was already competing, and winning at an open/professional level.

Over the years, Jake has been a member of several reputable bands. His ability to play was matched by his ear for tuning. He can achieve a sound, when setting up a pipe corp, that is envied by many. He not only played in, but was responsible for tuning The 78th Fraser Highlanders. They became the first band from this side of the Atlantic to win The RSPBA World Championships in 1987. That same year yielded their infamous Live in Ireland recording which remains one of the best selling pipe and drum recordings of all time.

Jake took on a leadership roll as of Pipe Sergeant for Peel Regional and Pipe Major of Toronto Metro. His professional career as a piper also lead to many opportunities such as playing with John Allan Cameron at Massy Hall.

Recently retired, Jake and his wife, Marnie, have settled in Atlantic Canada and look forward to many great adventures.
